Puerto Rican model Sofia Jirau wrapped up her participation in Los Angeles Fashion Week with a brilliant finale yesterday, Saturday, when she opened the runway show of American designer Bree Billiter.

The designer described her participation as "a wonderful experience".

During the past few days, Jirau, a 24-year-old model, also modeled for Colombian designer Nathalia Gaviria and Mexican designer Jonathan Guzman, who were pleased with the model's performance.

"For those who still don't know who she is, let me introduce you to this Latina power queen. She is the first Latina model with Down syndrome (from Victoria 's Secret) and I had the pleasure of inviting her to be part of my @artheartsfashion runway. Sofia you looked amazing on the runway, your professionalism and talent blew me away, keep following your dream, gorgeous! I'm so grateful we crossed paths, you really inspired me! This is the beginning of a new era," said Gaviria through her social networks.

For his part, Guzman pointed out that having Jirau as part of his collection is synonymous with diversity and inclusion. "I want to have her in my collection like any other model, totally equal. I love her energy," commented the Mexican designer.

Through her social media, the Puerto Rican model shared in recent days with her followers her experience modeling at the prestigious event produced by Art Hearts Fashion.

"Modeling at Los Angeles Fashion Week is a dream come true. I want to show the Down syndrome community and the whole world that there are no limits. Believe in yourself and work hard to fulfill all your dreams," said Jirau, who will be back in Puerto Rico today, Sunday.

It is worth mentioning that as part of the International Down Syndrome Day, Jirau will make a tour tomorrow, Monday, to several points of the island, including Plaza Las Americas and Plaza Del Caribe shopping malls, to carry a message of awareness and visibility to the Down syndrome community.

Prior to her arrival at the malls, the model will be at Las Croabas Park in Fajardo along with Héctor Collazo of the 78 pueblos y 1 bandera project in an activity in honor of people with Down syndrome.

"This Monday is a very special day for me and my friends with Down syndrome. I want to meet all of them," said Jirau.
